¡Hola mis amigos!
España here I come. What will it be like to travel to Oviedo, Spain through a study abroad program? I am about to find out and I can’t wait. I’m sure it will be hard work, mounds of effort, and perhaps a little overwhelming at times. But it will also be eye-opening, rewarding, and lots of fun. My main goals are to learn and to experience the Spanish culture. See new things, meet new people, learn/speak a foreign language, and live in a country that will challenge, excite, and teach me. Specifically, along with learning more of the Spanish language, I hope to gain some perspective about how the locals of Oviedo live by staying with a host family. Through guidance and patience, I hope that they take me into their family and show me their culture during my 5 weeks stay. My biggest fear is if any type of unintentional offensive miscommunication between myself and the host family arises. I hope that my host family is patient and willing to work with me on my Spanish speaking skills. Regardless, in no time I will be en España, hablando la lengua y aprendiendo sobre la cultura. Woo hoo!
